COWELL UNDER 13 NETBALL CARNIVAL
Roopena Netball Club competed in the annual 13 & under netball held 21st June 2009 in Cowell. Teams from all over the Eyre Peninsula came to compete. Roopena’s team was coached by Mel Carmody and managed by Rebecca Nielsen. Players included, Ashlee Ellis, Brodee Richards, Chloe Boundey, Chloe Evans, Kennedy Buckler, Nikki Lehman, Sally-Anne Eversen and Shanae Nielsen. A round robin competition was played which consisted of 6x20 minute games and the top two teams in each division played in the Grand Final. Roopena won 4 out of 6 games which earned them equal second place with Coles on the division two ladder, Roopena secured a place in the Grand Final by percentage. Roopena and Lock played a great competitive game but unfortunately for Roopena, Lock was too strong on the day winning 6 to 12.
Congratulations to Shanae Nielsen who won the Club carnival Best and Fairest player for Roopena.
